DescriptionTitle: The Third Eye
Artist: Taka
Circle: CROW'SCLAW
Album: Lightning Discharge
Original: 少女さとり ~ 3rd eye (Satori Maiden ~ 3rd eye)

One of the things that got me hooked up on Touhou Metal (at least on the main stream of Touhou Metal) was that CROW'SCLAW was releasing a new album.
In the beginning I decided to pass the offer, because I was sure it was a vocal album. With Taka last, both solo and Touhou records being vocal, I was sure he went into the vocal ship just as IKUTO did and I thought we would never hear something instrumental from him again.

A few weeks later (or even months, can't rememeber) I was told this was an instrumental album. Of course, I didn't hesitated to get it and listen to it, and let me tell you this....what a fine album was the one I heard.
While it is true it didn't surprised me as much as Over the Rainbow (I consider Over the Rainbow to be the best album CROW'SCLAW has ever released, but more on that in another video I think)
it still managed to satisfy beyond my dreams, the hunger I was left with the past vocal flood.

This album enjoys a particular variety of almost every genre Taka dominates and enjoys. With the exception of Southern Rock (sadly, because for me Frozen Frog is the 2nd best album)
each track is a sample of Taka's taste in heavy metal and hard rock. You can even listen the influences over his music. Take for instance the first song, an arrange of
"Strawberry Crisis!!". The song screams "Children of Bodhom" with all might, with heavy melodic death riffing, adding keyboards here and there to make it more melodic.
There is also an arrange of "Magus Night" that really reminded me to Megadeth. I think there is one song (not sure if its the same song) where Taka actually
pays tribute (also known as ripping) to one of Mustaine solos. For all Megadeth fans, I challenge to find it.
Last but not least, there is also an arrange of "Grave of Being" that is very gorgeous, and very hard rockish almost like it's work on "Over the Rainbow". Overall, this album is a proof of how much Taka has grown up, both as a musician and a music engineer from his very first album, and I really hope we can enjoy of more instrumental Taka for more time.

Now, perhaps my only complaint about this album is the selection of songs he decided to arrange. Almost half of the songs have been arranged from him before..
The 3rd Eye, Grave of Beign, Mysterious Mountain, and The Grimoire of Alice (Taka sure loves that last one) are the songs we have heard from him.
However the songs are far from beign rip offs from his last works. Every song is new and fresh in terms of composition, solos and genre.
The thing is...I just can't get trough the fact that we haven't heard an arrange of Nuclear Fusion beign that Utsuho is a HELL CROW.
I mean, if I had to choose a character to be the flag of CROW'SCLAW would be without a doubt, Utsuho. But I guess the music and the theme
hasn't been interesting enough for the CROW to work on it, or perhaps he is taking it sweet time to deliver one more eargasm.

Thanks for watching.
