DescriptionTitle: ボーダーオブライフ
Artist: Takumi Inohaya
Circle: ALTERNATIVE
Album: RECONQUISTA
Original: ボーダーオブライフ (Border of Life)

It's been a while since I share with you a "Border of Life" (by mathematical geekness I actually like to call it "Border of Line"), and there is an actual reason why there has been a lack of this song on the playlist. Apparently there wouldn't be a reason of why such an epic song does not fit into metal. Border of line contains all the climax, conclusion and drama that a final boss deserve.

Well, there isn't a reason actually, the problem is that most arrangers like to freaking speed up their drummer to the speed of sound, and most of the times, that only leaves it on a song full of speed metal and chaos. This is not bad, but I personally like well built drums rather than ultrasonic ones. I'm not fond to speed metal or power metal whatsover. One can argue Demetori fells into this classification, but there is a subtle yet gigantic difference that separates Demetori from the other "sonic bands". I hope I can expose this point of view of mine in another video.

For the time being, let us focus on this song by Takumi Inohaya. For those who never heard about him, allow me to introduce it to you. Takumi Inohaya was an arranger from a circle called "FRONTIER CREATE". This circle had on its own, other circles that were independent in some time, like a circle known as "NEUTRAL2" (formerly now as "=NeutraL="). This circle focused on every style of music, but released a few albums that are a "must have" if you are into Touhou Metal. On NEUTRAL 2, "DARKNESS" featured another arranger called nazz-can (apparently now retired), where he arranged must of the Subterranean Amenism songs. Takumi Inohaya arrived after nazz-can retirement and took the lead on the symphonic metal genre. Takumi delivered three incredible albums under this bigger circle and kinda rotated in each one of its subsets. One of this is were "ALTERNATIVE" where he released "RECONQUISTA", featuring different songs of Touhou in a more symphonic trend rather than more metal, but none of the less, incredibly awesome. The other work that Takumi Inohaya made was the "Trinity -Metal Side-". "Trinity" were three albums made by him under the circle "Frontier Records", featuring techno, classical, and metal arranges of Undefined Fantastic Object songs, and trust me all three albums are incredibly awesome. "Twilight Symphony" (by ALTERNATIVE) is also a must have for those who enjoy classical arranged songs of Touhou . Takumi Inohaya has been inactive since 2009, and similar to nazz-can, little is known from Takumi Inohaya. Apparently "Frontier Create" vanished into air, so there is now no trace about where he went, neither nazz-can.

As explained before, this arrange features more symphonic elements rather than metal. But that doesn't stop this arrange of paying tribute to the original song, retaining all the drama and climax that Border of Life enjoys so much. The drums are not loud, and allow you to enjoy the flavor of the song in every bit, while the rythm guitar gives the enough support to the symphonic lead, making this one very beautiful arrange.

By the way, if you ask yourself why I keep mentioning Takumi Inohaya with nazz-can, is because I think they know each other or they are the same person with different nicknames. I found their arranges way too similar, both in structure, instruments and details. However, please note I said similar, and not equal. While nazz-can enjoys of a more heavy metal approach, with some prog rock elements throw in and there, Takumi Inohaya is more of a symphonic kind of guy, who likes to fuse heavy metal elements with classic music.

Why do I imagine an epic battle between this two musicians? Go and listen the #25 on the first playlist to know why I am saying this. Also to be noted this is an arrange of Yuyuko 2nd Theme, witch goes by the name of "ボーダーオブライフ (Border of Life)" instead of her 1st witch name is "幽雅に咲かせ、墨染の桜 ~ Border of Life (Bloom Nobly, Cherry Blossoms of Sumizome ~ Border of Life)".

Thanks for watching.
