Title: An Old Alien
Artist: 鷹 (Taka)
Circle: CROW'SCLAW
Album: Over the Rainbow
Original: 平安のエイリアン (Heian Alien)
Website: http://www.crowsclaw.info/

THE CROWS ARE LISTENING.

"A vigorously youkai youkai song.
It's a song with an old-fashioned, Japanese sense of terror and
sorrow floating about. Isn't it really fitting for an EX boss?
The mostly one-shot recording full of ad-libbing is also pretty EX-ish."

The Old Alien once sealed deep in Gensyoko's underground has now escaped to bring this incredible music to you.
This is my favorite track of all the newest CROW'SCLAW album, but to be honest there are so many to choose from that the decition was though. Neo Classical metal done by Taka was indeed something to bring tears out of us, but I've never imagined it would be this good.

Taka commented that his main inspiration to do this album were 2 bands. Deep Purple and Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow band. Perhaps this album would not be what we expected, since everytime we think on Neo Classical, something Y-n-g-w-y-e alike comes to our mind, however is to be noted that both the bands I mentioned before are considered to be the pre-cursors of all the Neo Classical wave that fled out heavy metal by the end of 70's.
Taka even decided to switch his gear for this album, and in order to make it sound different he switched from his Les Paul Custom to a Stratocaster (model unknown for the time beign). There is quite a difference between using this 2 guitars, and that was the first that came to my mind when I herd this song.
The melody is great, the power of the riffs are solid rock as to be expected from the crow. The rhythm doesn't leave you a moment to stop headbanging, and the arrange is superb, and the quality of the mix is excellent, as usual.

Nue Houjou is one of my favorite character.
The idea of putting all the malice, all the darkness into one evil chimera is something I'm really fond to it.
Not only that, but to make a song out of the most evil themes of all the Touhou franchise? It's simply an evil genius idea, such as the man behind all of this great song, Taka, from CROW'SCLAW.

Thanks for watching.
