DescriptionTitle: The Last Age Before Shut
Artist: IRON - CHINO
Circle: IRON ATTACK!
Album: Concerto of the Scarlet Elements
Original: 明治十七年の上海アリス (Shanghai Alice of Meiji 17)

Can you imagine what would be like to be a disciple from IRON (guitarist and frontman of IRON ATTACK)?
"Not fast enough, you have to fire your guitar from the speed!". No actually, I wouldn't happen to know what is it like, but every time I listen to a new album of them, I got amazed. Let alone the work itself (repetitive, or cloning I'm pretty sure it's still a though task), but the speed they produce their music. Actually so far it is unknown for me who is part of IRON ATTACK and who doesn't. I don't know if it's a 1 man circle like the ones we usually listen here, or a full band. But each time I'm more convinced it's a full band working on the next album as fast as they can.

Anyway, this last album is no surprise. I'll avoid the topic of "repetitive work", because it's old news I think. After all that's what neo classical is right? Well at least for me, I can't stand more than a couple of tracks from the Neo Classican artist. This time I let my quality slip a little, and I must accept this isn't what you can call the best track out of the album. Indeed, the Rumia Theme is pretty damn good, and Rumia deserves some love. But there is one bloody thing I can't get out of my head from the past hours.

The arpeggios in the beginning of China Theme has some mystical and charming sound. Arpeggios are like a double edged weapon, they can be the cherry on the pie, or the extra sugar in your tea, meaning that either can make the song the double of gorgeous it is already, or may be a little bit too much when not used carefully. But those arpeggios have such a potential in every song. Try to do this experiment, go back a few (I mean.. A FEW) videos and hunt for the arranges we have listened before. You will notice in every damn arrange, those arpeggios are damn beautiful, and combining it with the bass line of the original song, it is such combination that delivers such colorful power, like China's Rainbow ability.

Talking about Rainbow, that one of the bands I have been listening awfully a lot these days. Perhaps you remember the album "Over the Rainbow" by CROW'SCLAW? Well, his idea was to take a modern and heavier approach to Rainbow combining it with Touhou. Rainbow is considered to be one of the pioneers in Neo-Classical music, but don't expect the usual "worn out" of the guitar. This are some hard rockish songs, with all the Deep Purple's escence but more aimed to the neo classical harmonies. If you never heard Rainbow in your life, and you wish to listen a less virtuosic neo classical, go and search for "Gates of Babylon" right now. Oh Ritchie Blackmore, the great grandfather of Neo Classical. Wouldn't be great to listen some IRON ATTACK paying tribute to their makers?

Thanks for watching.
