Been having a hard time listening to any of the Touhou drum and bass because I'm just not feeling it. It's true that you shouldn't expect great mixing out of doujin releases but this is really important in drum and bass, more than in electro if you ask me. Otherwise, the synths/drums that pack the punch don't really make much of an impact. I get the feeling that we're not gonna have any impressive Touhou drum and bass yet, also because the compositions don't lend themselves to the genre without taking too much liberty. And vocals...

Well, this is an album comprised of originals by Diverse System, a circle which is more like a label really because there are so many artists that release under this name. They provide just about all kinds of EDM, but recently started to dabble properly into drum and bass, as is the case with other japanese artists.
It was really surprising to me how genuine this sounds, overall. I'd say I enjoy a good chunk this album which is definitely a first for doujin DnB. It has a nice variety of all kinds of DnB and, although I can't say I enjoy every track, they're properly mixed, which is mind boggling to me.

This track in particular is of the Neurofunk/Industrial kind, and honestly I think it's perfect throughout its first part. Then in the second breakdown, it takes a melodic approach during the last 8 bars that I don't think was necessary. Or at least I'd prefer a different melody. But it's ok, because apart from that it feels very genuine, as I said. What a delicious snare.

I think I'll put more of these tracks up later, with more Cyberpunk imagery because ermagherd robots.
