Undead Corporation isn't a new circle on the Touhou Metal scene.
They have been around for quite some time, and I think they have more than 3 albums already.
If you are fan of "Undead Corporation" and you have always wondered why they have never been featured here before, then allow me to clarify a bit why. "Undead Corporation" focuses on doing Death Metal, and like any other Death Metal band, they like adding growling vocals to their songs. While it it's true I'm a metal head, I tend to dislike anything that has growling vocals, even in they are high pitched or low pitched. God knows how many great bands I have missed because of this issue, and I'm always hoping that those bands get something instrumental or non growling vocals, because I really enjoy instrumental death metal.

Having said that, Undead Corporation was one of those bands that I didn't even mind listening their efforts, because I was sure there was some extreme growling, aside that I've never liked the guitars very much in the first place. This is funny, considering Yuki from Unlucky Morpheus has been helping them in all their productions.
Not recently ago, I heard that Undead Corporation was going got feature Meramipop (the girl who has been working with Pizuya and Taka lately. See #261 and #262 if you missed), and another vocalist I've never heard of, but there was going to be no screaming or growling ago. Surprised by this fact, I went ahead and I listened.

The result is what you are listening now, extremely low tuned guitars combined with a powerful drum setting, and something very gorgeous on the voice. I'm not precisely fan of the mix, I feel the voice is a bit too loud, however it doesn't affect at all enjoying this piece of music. The album itself it's really enjoyable. There are NO screaming (only tiny bits in one song), and it is very balanced in metal terms. I had a rough time deciding witch song was the best to share with you. After a while, I decided that I would go with Hina and the Dark Road theme, but trust me, the rest of this album is as enjoyable as this track, and there are non vocal versions in the album, in case you belong to the purist instrumental club.

Talking about Hina, I'm surprised so far only few have done this track on death metal, or Gothic metal for that matter. Quoting from Touhou Wikia: "Hina is the leader of the Nagashi-bina doll army whose job is to scare off lost Humans who get too near to the Youkai Mountain as well as gathering their misfortune." It's totally a description that belongs to a more darker atmosphere, however I can understand her theme isn't that creepy. It starts really darkish but all of the sudden gets all cheerful. I don't mind this at all, in fact Dark Road it's one of favorite tracks from ZUN, however this doesn't help when you try to arrange this theme.

Undead Corporation has managed to give all this darkness feel to Hina theme and to Hina herself. While she isn't precisely an important character for ZUN, fans have made her somewhat important, and by some reason unknown to me, she also tends to be drawn in a very sexy kind of way. Come on ZUN, how could you make something epic like "The Curse Godess", and not give her any more role than spinning round?

Thanks for watching.
