That means it's time for Letty to leave again, huh? I suppose I felt the need to upload something for just for Letty. I'm not completely sure of how I feel about Letty, but I do feel and sense of attachment to her. I guess I'll start with something random. The first Touhou related image that I ever saved was an image of Letty over a year ago (possibly two). Back then I had no clue about the existence of Touhou. I was thinking of including the image but it didn't quite fit. Anyways, being a Yuki-onna (snow woman) sounds like a huge pain, only appearing at wintertime and having to basically hibernate in the other 3 seasons, as stated in Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red. "I go on a deep sleep during spring, I'm inactive during summer, I doze off during autumn. I hide and rest in a place where the sun won't reach. I don't move or breathe very much." -Taken from Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red (Translated by Touhou Wikia) Really does sound like a pain, having to hide from the sun for 3 whole seasons and not moving often. Really, can you imagine what it would be like? I mean we do sleep for quite a large amount in our entire life and all, but sleeping straight for 3 entire seasons. I really have to be jealous that she's able to tolerate not moving for so long. Well, I probably don't understand it at all since I'm viewing it from a human's standpoint (maybe this is one of the reasons why they're hostile to humans). It'd be rather nice if there was an extended winter. Let Letty have a longer period of fun, ya know? Of course, that doesn't seem like a good idea either, according to Japanese Red. "The youkai who was attacked for her perceived connection to the cold wave was not particularly connected to the spring summoning ceremony." Basically means that she'd just get attacked by humans because she's a winter youkai and is thought to be one of the causes of an extended winter even though she has absolutely nothing to do with that. Either situation doesn't sound fun at all. In the end, Letty is a character that I'd certainly would tip my hat to. Long story short... Bye Letty. See you next winter~ |
