I feel as though Dark PHOENiX is exploring new grounds over their course.
If you look back at at ShotShell albums, you can clearly identify a certain contrast with their newest release, Flowers for Patchouli.

It seems like not only as the cover art taken a more elegant approach, but rather one whole musical foundation as been undertook. I mean, this album is pretty much a handful of hymns, a journey through Gensokyo. There is a remarkably shy presence of their so infamous synth guitars, and rather, a bold presence of other instruments, and even a very bold piano display. Dark PHOENiX truly has matured a lot over these years.

It's somewhat funny that a batshit insane dude like Shion would submit himself to churn such a pleasant album, such graceful tunes. Let's not remember his other project with Justice is Dead. He's a rather versatile guy himself, eh.

The reason I picked this track out of the rest is only because Shou arranges are seldom sights in my channel. I like the originals, but I've never taken much interest in any arranges. Perhaps I'm doing it wrong, it is a possibility. Arguably, this is one album best listened in a whole rather than single tracks.

I personally am satisfied with this new Dark PHOENiX, but I pledged loyalty to them a long time ago, whichever route they'd roam into. And arguably this is one album that those skeptical about synth technology will most definitely enjoy. The synth guitars are not loud at all (you'll even miss them) and it sounds even more real than before. The odds are absolutely delicious.
