Describing this song, well I don't know even where to start since every second of it is beyond awesome but not only that, it is also pretty different from the standard. But first of all, I think that this arrange it is the perfect song to describe what Demetori is. You see, Demetori is a circle that likes to experiment with the music, and with the sound. They like to create things out of the box, and then latter they combine their own "standard" sound with the things they just recently discovered. I'm only aware of 2 other circles that does the same, namely Xi-On and CROW'SCLAW (Godspeed would be on the list if he only had more than 2 arranges on Touhou history) If you have heard all Demetori's Touhou albums (not the soundtracks for Falcom games) you know that each album has a different "feel" or essence behind it. Just to name some of them: "Sinen" had a lot of jazzy vibes and genre fusion in it, "Ill mondo " was a brutal display of speed metal and "Nada Upasana Pundarika" was a master piece in progressive metal genre (It even has cameos of Dream Theater songs, I dare to find them). Well, I believe this album, and in particular this song its a brilliant work that incorporates every aspect of what Demetori has achieved in their Touhou work. But beyond being the best and the most representative song of Demetori, I consider it also a master piece on all the Touhou music it has ever been created, and that has ever been arranged, hell it's one of the best songs I have heard in my entire life. I consider this song to be the perfect combination of a great rendition to a theme and an incredibly talented composition behind the arranger. One of the things that perplexed my mouth when I was listening to this was the talent of Tokunan's behind the guitar. Now, I'm not saying the work of his brother behind drums isn't such a wonderful piece too, but the guitar was the thing that astonished me. In this arrange, it is not the speed or the virtuosity behind the guitar. In this arrange, the guitar actually sings to you! It is the voice of a woman whose making you feel gosebumps all around your video, a woman who is controlling what you feel, and in what moment. It is a voice of a siren, that can charm you forever, that can hypnotize you and take you with her for the rest of a life. It is voice that perhaps many people who listen this song will pursue to find, even if it costs their life. It is the voice and the melody, a melody that takes you away in its infinite majesty, a melody that describes the song, that allows you to remember it well, and that it will stick to your head weeks after you listened to it. Speed? Sure, that can be found in any place at any hour. But this we are listening now? It is something unique to the person who works behind it, and it is only achieved when both heart, soul and mind are connected in a trinity, where lies the perfect balance of a freaking great damn song. Beyond the main melody, it is the solo of the song, because it is not only a solo full of speed and scale patterns, it carries you away with different progressions, being slow and melodic where it needs to and then taking you to a tour on the underworld of heaviness and speed. Without a doubt, one of the best solos I have heard not only on Touhou music, but in all the music as well. I could go on and on of why this song is the best one that has ever been up in this channel, but only one thing we would achieve by doing that, and that is finding the point to infinity. I said it before, and I say it now, "BEGIERDE DES ZAUBERER" is the best Touhou music album that has been ever composed, and in my opinion one of the best albums I have heard in my entire life. It is not only because it contains this song, but also because every other damn song on this album has this equilibrium on it. I will cherish this song my whole life as a treasure, because to this days still makes me tear of how beautiful music can be composed. This song is to be blamed of why I returned to upload Touhou music, because this song brought me back from the dead, both in a mentally and in a spiritual way. There is no doubt Demetori is one of the best circles with the best musicians working behind Touhou, and for me Tokunan's composition behind guitar, bass and keyboards have reached new heights of what I ever expected to listen in my whole life. |
