Didn't even need to go all out in my jazz excavation ordeals to come about this one, the title was simply screaming to me. It is a rather simple rhetorical input I'll gladly take into analysis. If Unknown Owen was jazz we're here to testify. U.N. Owen is a lot of stuff. It is most definitely the staple of the franchise, and whether you love it or loathe it, it is the basing foundation in the antics behind a lot of memes in and outside the Touhou world. U.N. owen is more than the insanity behind Flandre Scarlet the persona, it is the power of a whole doujin community. Today in particular, kaname brings you the U.N.Owen of the soul. He taints Scarlet the flowing melodies of Blues and presents us with a plethora of instruments, taking very clever turns in telling the tale of the batshit insane woman, the basement-dwelling twisted devil. The sax improvisation is not too blunt neither it is path for exploration. Instead, the idea seems to be of a more casual intake on a very quirky theme. It closely follows to the original melody and simply by having each instrument portraying its melody, all of them together come out to form a beautiful and breath-taking journey through the scarlet devil mansion. And while technically it is outclassed by various other circles in this particular piece of Touhou's music scene, an entertaining composition and variety make this track certainly the most beautiful Flandre jazz arrange I've ever been the blissful and enthusiastic audience. -- The Suzuran Parlour: http://thesuzuranparlour.wordpress.com/ |
