[Game] - Touhou 10: Mountain of Faith

Good god, what's with my Hina rush today. I've spent all my 'musical day' listening to arranges of both Dark Road and Dark Side of Fate, this sounds like an addiction to me, eh?

Alright now, let's tackle this one fine and dandy and spinny (first obligatory meme remark).
Sometimes you've got to wonder what is Hina doing, sitting or rather spinning yadda yadda yadda, all day long like it was no thing, all day long being the mere submissive second stage boss. I mean, if you come to look at it, she's by far the most meaningful second boss in the whole series.
I mean, yeah, someone's gotta fulfill that role... However, when your second stage fowks are Cirno, Chen, Kogasa and all the rest, you sorta stand out with ridiculous distinction. I'm just saying that for a curse goddess, Hina should kick in far later into the game. I know, I do realize that wouldn't leave much of a room for all the shenanigans that happen inside the actual youkai mountain to unfold and would be very anti-logistic or something, STILL. I mad.png

Perhaps only rivaled by Parsee (whom antics I also love to death), Hina is the staple of staples in second stages. She's got a beautiful stage composition AND theme, and while the danmaku isn't the most brutallistic pile of raging travails, they are pretty fun and entertaining, what with the spinning shenanigans and all that jazz.
Moreover, the mood that Dark Side of Fate sets up is absolutely stunning. I've addressed this issue just a few moments ago in my blog, but basically I've concluded it is very hard for an arrange to top the original Dark Side. The drumming line jams a mocky, playful, twisted and jumpy tune right into the bliss of our souls. If anything, it could be said that Hina, as a curse goddess, suffers from this little short-coming managed by herself, because Dark Side of Fate is the best possible fate you can wish for.

However, the meat and potato of this upload is not Hina's track itself, but her stage theme. Both fall under the same hasty and mocky mood which works so nicely in our quirkful Hina. I love both, and while I think little to no arranges can top Dark Side of Fate, SHO did a pretty lovely job with this arrange of Dark Road, taking my top spot in arranges pertaining to this theme, as well as one of my favorite SHO arranges. In fact, the whole Tempest IV was a spout of genius for crying out loud. Sonic Hybrid Orchestra, so good.

Lastly, really, it would really bother me if you left before like the first minute. This is textbook progressive, crescendo musical composition, so you've got to give it time until its substance unfolds. Seriously, just give it a try. You'd better keep this in mind while listening to most circles... Specially SHO.
