The main pretense behind the tale in Ghostly Field Club is that of a journey across the boundary; the boundary to Gensokyo. The two girls, aided by Renko's uncanny trait to tell the time by glancing at the cosmos, followed the hint of a picture to route their way along to the Netherworld. This is pretty much the setting landmark in ZUN's CDs when it comes to the Sealing Club. We're presented to an active duo of necromancers who manage to stray off the stereotypical antics behind a necromancer. They could be spreading cards or doing awkward spells for that matter, but we all know that's not the case. I think this is the wonderland ZUN has readied for his fans. Rather than a setting in Gensokyo, maybe this is where he aimed to target his audience. Incidentally, I suppose Renko and Maribel are by far the characters with whom all of us can identify more, what with journeying and exploring the universe on the other side, Gensokyo.
